Uljanik Shipyards

Uljanik shipyards in Pula has existed for over 150 years and has seen the rise and fall of empires and countries-Austria, Italy, Yugoslavia, Croatia and the EU.  They are competing in an intensely competitive industry with low cost producers in China and Korea.  Nina, our guide, stated that they can remain competitive based on their ability to maintain high quality standards and offer customization to their customers.  One interesting note is that their customers can remain on site through the building process.
