Venice airport-a study in contrasts

Once we checked our bags at the Venice airport, I was pleasantly surprised by the speed with which we were whisked through security and passport control.  It was a model of efficiency which other airports should copy.  However; my adulation turned south when we were brought out to the plane and forced to sit there immobile for 2 hours because our luggage had not been put on the plane.  Our stewardesses said that this was a fairly frequent thing to happen!
